Если ниндзя переодевался монахом или странником, он уже не мог носить
свой обычный набор оружия, так как тогда бы его могли опознать и
схватить. Вместо этого использовалось складное оружие, известное как
tabiumi, которое было примерно вполовину меньше обычного лука. Две
бамбуковые половинки скреплялись между собой металлическим шарниром,
поэтому лук складывался пополам и мог быть легко скрыт в мешке или под
одеждой. Если же было слишком опасно, ниндзя носил с собой только
тетиву и при необходимости быстро изготавливал лук из куска бамбука.
Однако стрелы с отравленными наконечниками надо было постоянно держать
наготове. Поэтому их прятали под соломенную шляпу, а иногда просто
использовали в качестве ребер ее каркаса. Стрелы имели около двадцати
пяти сантиметров в длину, а в качестве оперения использовалась бумага
или птичье перо. В отличие от большого лука табиюми был эффективен на
расстоянии до двадцати пяти метров. Но даже при небольшой силе удара
попадание отравленной стрелой было смертельным для человека.
